Blurb from the founder (brian)

Hey everyone,

It looks as if we have a tenative regular date for our meetings, the second wednesday of the month. Ian ( I forget his last name) from Silicon Valley Linux Users Group encouraged me to hold the meetings on a day that would not conflict with their meetings. So, I said, "Good Enough" and switched it to a the second wednesday of the month. I hope to get a larger room for the next meeting. Past meetings I have said maximum of fifteen people. I should qualify that to mean a maximum of fifteen people with the current room. Maxim Group has provided us with the room to host our meetings thus far which I am greatful.

For the next meeting Brian Faivre suggested a presentation discussing configuring of Apache on Linux. If you know someone knowledgeable who will create a presentation let me know. I am also hoping I can get Brian 'Beej' Hall to discuss mySQL. He has worked with linux for quite some time and I think his presentation would be of great value to the group.

I was thinking of ways to that we could compensate presenters, actually I should say, "a way to say thank you" because right now the linux group is volunteer and has no budget. I am thinking we could take a collection for the presenter and offer a gift certificate to a bookstore.

Basic Linux Info

You are invited to the Linux Users Group Sacramento (LUGS) meeting. Linux is a UNIX type operating system. Among the heavyweights, Linux has been adopted by Wells Fargo Bank, NASA, Cisco, PG&E, and the United States Post Office for production applications. Linus Torvalds began the original creation of Linux in 1991 which is now supported by thousands of developers around the world. The source to Linux is open, so it allows for complete customization. Come to the meeting to learn more, or share your current knowledge.

Please RSVP.
