Brian,

My modem is dialing now but it won't stay connected I think is because its
dialing a NT box and I don't have the login stuff right.
Any suggestions?

Thank You,

See http://www.brie.com/linux for details on the mailing list

check the kernel recompile howto. you may have sound support compiled as
modules. As root
# linuxconf
might help you here
Try http://sunsite.unc.edu/linux/ for howto's

you don't mount a drive. you mount the media in the drive. There's
a difference. Stick a formatted msdox disk in the drive and
make a directory /mnt/floppy
as root
# mount -t vfat /dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy
$ cd /mnt/floppy
$ ls
voila, you see the contents of your disk. You can save files on it,put
it in a windoze machine, and you can open files there too. You can
make a linux floppy, but I will leave that as an exercise for the
end user. :) See the howto's. They provide for endless hours of reading.

As root
# linuxconf
and look under networking. You will find a section for configuring dial
up networking.
