Gnome is not a window manager but a desktop environment. is a window
manager. I personally like WindowMaker over Enlightenment especially if
your not using gnome. It has been a while since I messed with a window
manager but when I did Enlightenment played nicer with gnome than
Windowmaker but things may have changed in the last 9 months. I'm a
sucker for the nextstep type desktop. I even run a Nextstep emulator on
my NT workstation called NextStart. Works great.
