If your friend is used to Win95/98, I'd suggest KDE to start.
Gnome/Enlightenment seem to me to have a ways to go yet. I rather like KDE,
although I much prefer Windowmaker. It's highly configurable and hands down
the most elegant out there. Desktop as art.

Subject: [Lug-Nuts] window managers

I'm curious as to what window mangers you all use out there, and which
ones people find the best. A friend of mine is installing linux for the
1st time and wanted to know which window manager to choose. I told him to
pick gnome, but I realize there are MANY alternatives. So I'm curious...
what do you all use? :)
