Not that this applies but there's some kind of bug in the Intels that causes
it to start barfing multicast packets when triggered just right -- and
AppleTalk (via netatalk) is just such a trigger. Great way to bring down a
large corporate network (it wasn't my fault!).

Yeah there's a workaround but as you said:
