check your /var/log/maillog for any generated errors by sendmail. Chances
are you will find the cause of the problem in there.

Correct. Its a great thing :-) Sendmail comes configured by default not
to allow relaying except from the localhost. What this means is that no
one can use your smtp server to send mail. The saclug server is
configured the same way, except, I have my internal class c open to relay
(or else my wife would be very mad!). If you want to open it up to
specific IP addresses, just modify the /etc/mail/relay-domains file, then
restart sendmail.
